WARNING: This album was "mixed" by a masochistic idiot (me). Most tracks begin rather quiet but gradually become very loud. For the sake of your speakers, headphones, and hearing, please be mindful of your volume levels before playing. Thank you.
In cinema, "night for day" is a lighting technique for filming interior scenes at night. Large lights are positioned outside of windows (often obscured by curtains or blinds) to create the illusion of daytime. It's basically the inverse of the more common technique of shooting exteriors "day for night."
These tracks were created from multiple mixer and analog synth noise improvisations layered over one-another, with further digital tweaking, stretching, sliding, and other manipulations on my computer. Tracks 2 & 3 also feature digital sounds from GarageBand played on the computer keypad. Nothing was recorded with microphones capturing sounds through the open air. All gear was plugged directly from the mixing board to the back of the computer and listened to through headphones. Effectively, the album was made by sitting quietly alone, nearly silent to the outside world.
Night for Day is a work of internal and interior despair - dreading things both personal (general health and the health and mortality of loved ones) and broader, like how the demagogues of the Far Right, in all their clownish absurdity, are nonetheless winning. If they were stopped tomorrow, it would take at least a generation to undo the damage done. Honestly, even that feels like an optimistic estimation. And, as always, some people just don't have that long.
"With the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.”
--Hunter S. Thompson
"I've seen the future, brother
It is murder."
--Leonard Cohen
So yeah, the windows may be bright,
but it is getting dark out there.
So:
Be safe (as safe as possible).
Be smart - always, and clever.
Be kind, which is not the same as being nice.
Stay nasty (please).
Read banned books, especially the ones that scare cruel people.
Hold on to the light.
No matter what, hold on to the light.
With nothing but love,
-CAC
P.S., Okay, more like with nothing but love and GLOOM, but still... <3

I got into electronic music by accident when a theater production needed some sound effects. Self-taught, working mostly
with an antiquated version of Garageband, and various broken things.... I find myself after a decade of homemade albums, scores for theater, and other wanderings, still without a clue what I'm doing, but still doing it....more
This album wrecked me. One of the most emotional listening experiences of my life. So much of my drive this year is indebted to this album. Cory Capron
I have heard my dear friend play these songs many times before they were on an album. I should be sick of them by now, but it's still the most played album of the last three years for me. Cory Capron
Discovering Current 93 marked a major shift in my work (notably starting with Wrecker). This was the album that first pulled me into the vast world of David Tibet, a dreamscape of pure wounded beauty. Cory Capron
The German "quasi-free jazz" duo's debut LP is a crisply detailed trip through soundscapes that are playful and eerie in equal measure. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 14, 2020
